Rome is a city and commune in Italy. Rome is the capital of Italy and also the province and the region of Lazio. With a population of 2.7 million in 1,285.3 km2 (496.3 sq mi), it is the country’s largest and the most populated commune and fourth populous city in the European Union by population within city limits.
